This pair of lantern stands were made for our daughter for her Senior Vocal Recital.  Her theme concerned the nighttime, so she wanted lantern stands (with lanterns, of course) which would highlight the idea of being outside in the evening.  Obviously they couldn't be stuck in the ground (the stage), so Mark had to design them to stand alone.  This was one more highlight of an exciting evening.
